The symposium takes place under the patronage of the University of Canterbury (UC), which was established as Canterbury College in 1873 and is the top engineering university in New Zealand. It will be held in newly built Engineering Core Building (see Figure above) on UC’s beautiful campus ca. 5 km West of Christchurch City Centre. The location is a perfect base to explore Christchurch and vicinity with its rich cultural and natural options. Christchurch is conveniently connected to the rest of the world by direct flights from Singapore, Fiji, Thailand, China and Australia. The university and also the city centre is within 15 min reach (by car or shuttle) from the airport. Christchurch is also close to world-famous, breath-taking, untouched nature and UNESCO World Heritage observatory, which may be explored during an excursion to be organized in the context of the Symposium.

Location
On-street parking is available near the venue, but please observe the parking limits to avoid fines (blue signs with P 120 indicates parking up to 120 minutes only). Please contact us for details for parking on-campus.
Arriving from the Airport
From Christchurch Airport you can take one of the buses (around $8 NZD):
- Purple Line (every 30 min, 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.). Get off at Ilam Rd near Montana Ave and walk for about 10 mins to Engineering Core at 42 Creyke Rd.
- 29 Airport to City (every 30 min, 6:00 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. for Mon-Sat and 7:00 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. for Sun). Get off at Memorial Ave near Chilcombe St and walk for about 15 mins to Engineering Core at 42 Creyke Rd.
Alternatively, you can reserve a shuttle or cab from one of the following options:
- SuperShuttle: the fare estimate is around $24 NZD for a shared ride and $75 NZD for exclusive use.
- Taxi: the fare estimate is about $40 NZD and there are taxi stands outside the terminal.
